Heart at work
Together let's support the project of renovation of the church Saint-Paul

Why support St. Paul's Church?

Saint-Paul is a monumental church, an exceptional testimony to the neo-Gothic heritage of the Neustadt of Strasbourg, in the middle of a peninsula surrounded by the waters of the Ill and the Aar. Impressive from the outside with its two towers that culminate at 76 meters, it is also impressive by its interior dimensions since it can accommodate more than 1,600 people for services, concerts, shows and exhibitions.

Listed as a historic monument in 1998, 101 years after its construction, Saint-Paul Church is also a place steeped in the Protestant history of Strasbourg, a city of dual heritage and culture. It is also the only Protestant university parish in the heart of Strasbourg.

Historical, heritage, spiritual, cultural and touristic, the Saint-Paul church is today strongly marked by the effects of time and history. This essential place must urgently be renovated to continue to bring its light to the city, its spirituality and to welcome its 20,000 annual visitors.
She will always be there for you, but today, Saint-Paul needs you!
Perpetuate a place of life anchored in its time
To strengthen the reputation of Saint-Paul Church, to raise awareness of its necessary renovation, to attract a wider public, Saint-Paul Church is relying on its tradition of openness.

A wide range of cultural programming
The existence of a very wide program of cultural events in this place testifies to this attachment to opening up to the public and to anchoring itself in the lives of the people of Strasbourg.
Organ recitals, concerts by the Strasbourg University Orchestra, classical concerts or electronic music concerts during Musica… find in Saint-Paul an exceptional place to share beautiful moments.

Renting the venue for events
This magnificent space can also be rented for events seeking a unique venue. After the Zenith and the Palais des Congrès, it is the largest venue for classical or experimental concerts, with a capacity of up to 1,600 people.

Actor in the spiritual and social life of Strasbourg
At the center of an active spiritual life and committed to social action, the Parish of Saint Paul is a vibrant force in the contemporary community.
It also occupies a special place as a university parish in the heart of Strasbourg. It maintains close ties with the Protestant theology faculty and offers students a welcoming space to meet and recharge. It also organizes numerous regular meetings for couples and families who share the values of faith and love.
The men and women behind the stone
The carrying out of work on a protected property is subject to scientific and technical control by State services, before any request for subsidies.
The Saint-Paul church is in dialogue with the services of the regional directorate of cultural affairs (DRAC), with the architect of buildings of France (ABF) and the regional conservation of historic monuments (CRMH).
The presbyteral council is the body responsible for the spiritual and material organization of Saint-Paul Church. Its volunteers are deeply involved in this major project aimed at preserving the building. In November 2023, they created the "Saint-Paul 1897 Fund," dedicated entirely to financing the renovation work.
The Pierre-Antoine Gatier agency, Chief Architect of Historic Monuments, was selected following a call for proposals. This agency has participated in the development of restoration and enhancement projects for major monuments such as the Domaine de Chantilly, the Villa Medici in Rome, the Bourse de Commerce, the Opéra Comique in Paris, and more.
They all put their skills, their know-how and their convictions into this race against time and into the preservation of a monument that is dear to them, as it is to all the people of Strasbourg.
It is this unwavering commitment that inspired the name of this operation:
Heart at Work!
